29/September/2023 - Car vs Tree MVC - "B" Shift

An adult male received multiple traumatic injuries after the vehicle he was driving struck a tree Friday afternoon 29-Sept at approx 17:15. The vehicle was traveling south in the 3300 block of Cane Branch Road when it failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle entered the northbound ditch, overcorrected, crossed both lanes of Cane Branch Road and entered the southbound ditch where it struck a tree. Click here for additional information.
22/September/2023 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

An alert neighbor noticed smoke coming from a residence in the 1300 block of Nunuville Road Friday afternoon 22-September at 14:30. Fire-Rescue units arrived within minutes and found light smoke coming from the eves of the doublewide mobile home. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one hand line to the building and made entry through the front door. Crews encountered fire in the area of the kitchen, They quickly knocked down the flames and saved the home, as well as most belongings. Crews had to pull the ceilings in the kitchen to stop some fire extension in the attic space. Click here for additional information.
21/September/2023 - High Speed MVC - "C" Shift

Two people were injured following an overturned vehicle crash on I-95 near the 49 mile marker southbound. The SUV, which was towing a camper, lost control and struck a guardrail. The SUV and the camper both overturned and received substantial damage. The two restrained adult occupants received non-life threatening injuries. Both were treated at the scene by Fire-Rescue, then transported to Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro by Fire-Rescue Medic 1. Click here for additional information.
19/September/23 - U-Haul Van vs Mobile Home MVC - "A" Shift

Traffic on I-95 Southbound was backed up over five miles following a collision near the 52 mile marker Tuesday afternoon 19-Sept at 15:33. A southbound mobile home was being transported when the vehicle experienced a problem with an axle. The truck pulling the mobile home pulled into the breakdown lane and the driver, as well as the escort vehicle's driver crawled under the mobile home in an effort to make repairs. While working on the axle, the mobile home was struck by a fully loaded U-Haul box van. Click here for additional information.
16/September/2023 - MVC with Ejection - "C" Shift

An adult male suffered multiple traumatic injuries and a possible head injury when he was ejected from his SUV after hitting a utility pole. The small SUV was traveling northbound on Jefferies Hwy. (US Hwy 15), when it left the roadway, jumped a ditch and struck the power pole, breaking it into three pieces. The SUV then flipped over multiple times before landing on its side in a field. The man was found lying in the field near the SUV. Bystanders had stopped to render aid. Click here for additional information.  
15/September/2023 - Car vs Trailer MVC - "C" Shift

A northbound Lexus collided with a loaded utility trailer on a dark rural section of highway in the 2300 block of Hendersonville Hwy. (US Hwy 17-A) south of Walterboro Friday evening 15-September at 19:59. The truck pulling the trailer was turning into a residence when the accident occurred. The Lexus sustained heavy damage in the collision and the unrestrained driver suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Click here for additional information.
14/September/2023 - Bulldozer MVC - "B" Shift

An adult male received multiple injuries after a bulldozer he was operating drove into a 12 foot deep ditch. He was thrown to the floor and remained there for several hours until someone found him. Due to his injuries, he was unable to move. The site was off of Parkers Ferry Road near Bantry Road, about 7 miles into the woods from a populated area or paved road. Sheriff's Deputies and Fire-Rescue Units had difficulty locating the accident on the large tree farm and then had to extricate the man from the enclosed cab bulldozer. 08/September/2023 - Auto vs Pedestrian - "B" Shift

 At 17:38 Friday afternoon 08-September, an adult male riding a bicycle was struck by a car in the new cross walk in the 500 Robertson block of Robertson Blvd. The man suffered multiple traumatic injuries and a head injury. He was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. Firefighter-Paramedics on Fire-Rescue Medic 26 treated the man at the scene, then transported him emergent to Trident Medical Center. Click here for additional information. 
06/September/2023 - Fatal MVC - "C" Shift

An adult female was fatally injured when the bicycle she was riding was struck by a car on a dark rural section of Peurifoy Road Wednesday night 06-September at 20:14. The woman, an adult male and a small child were all riding separated bicycles east bound in the 900 block of Peurifoy Road just west of Henry Street. The rural road was dark and was not equipped with street lights. The bicycles also were not equipped with lighting. An eastbound passenger car rounded a curve and did not have time to react to the person in the road. Click here for additional information.
04/September/2023 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

County Firefighters saved a Bowman Ln residence following a kitchen fire that damaged the home Monday evening 04-September. At 21:36 a passing motorist saw flames coming from the home and alerted 9-1-1. Engine 6 arrived to find flames visible from the roof and heavy smoke conditions in the neighborhood. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to the building and made entry through the front door. They were able to contain the fire to the area of the kitchen. Click here for additional information.
03/September/2023 - MVC with Entrapment and Air Evac - "C" Shift

At 19:16, Sunday afternoon 03-September a northbound passenger car left I-95 at a high rate of speed. The car entered the wooded median, struck a tree and overturned, trapping the driver in the wreckage. The car suffered heavy damage. Several passing motorists stopped to assist, but could not access the patient. When Fire-Rescue units arrived, they found the vehicle laying on its passenger side covered with foliage. A Firefighter-Paramedic was able to enter the car through the broken rear window and begin providing patient care. Click here for additional information.
03/September/2023 - Medical Air Evac - "C" Shift

An adult male suffered a medical emergency near the Town of Lodge Sunday afternoon 02-September at 17:00. His condition required immediate speciality care. Firefighter-Paramedics provided medical attention at the scene, then transported him emergent to the field in front of Bells Elementary School to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. He was transferred to the flight crew and flown to Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. Click here for additional information.
03/September/23 - MVC with Entrapment - "C" Shift

An adult male suffered multiple traumatic injuries when the pickup truck he was driving left the roadway and overturned Sunday afternoon 03-September at the intersection of Sunrise Road (SC Hwy 217) and Johnsville Road east of the Town of Smoaks. At 16:41, a caller to 9-1-1 reported the truck weaving. It entered the ditch and overturned a short time later, trapping the man in the wreckage. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived shortly to find the vehicle on its side blocking the intersection. The load of contraction materials including thousands of nails and screws were in the road. 03/September/2023 - Flooding

In the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia last week, heavy rains from the midlands of South Carolina began reaching Colleton County on its voyage to the Atlantic. The Edisto and Combahee Rivers surpassed their capacity and began flooding lowlands near the rivers this weekend. Fire-Rescue  monitored  the rising waters and conducted flooding assessments throughout the weekend. The most severe flooding occurred along the Edisto south of Canadys to the Jelicos area, with many roads flooded and many homes surrounded by flood waters. Click here for additional information.
03/September/2023 - Fall with Air Evac - "C" Shift
An adult female was flown to a Charleston Trauma Center after suffering a fall at her home. The patient suffered traumatic injuries and was found unconscious. It is not known how long the patient was in this condition. Firefighter-Paramedics responded to the home on Fairlight Circle near the Bamberg County line at 10:51 Sunday morning 03-September. The patient was treated at the scene. Due to the distance to a Trauma Center, CARE Flight was contacted and responded to a field near Carter's Ford Church. Fire-Rescue Medic 7 transported her to meet with CARE Flight. Click here for additional information.
02/September/2023 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

A Johnsville community home was heavily damaged in a mid-afternoon fire Saturday 02-September. At 12:31, 9-1-1 was notified by a neighbor that the residence at 2626 Johnsville Road was on fire. The caller noted flames were coming from the roof. Engine 7 arrived minutes later to find heavy smoke conditions and flames visible from the roof of the double wide mobile home. A portion of the roof in the back of the structure had already collapsed. Crews deployed multiple handlines to the building and made entry through the front door. Water supply was conducted with Tenders. The home received heavy damage. Click here for additional information.
02/September/2023 - MVC with Entrapment - "B" Shift

An adult male was injured Saturday 02-Sept. when his pickup truck left the highway and struck several trees trapping him in the wreckage. At 10:47, the pickup truck was traveling northbound on Jefferies Highway near Langdale Dr when it veered into the southbound ditch and struck several trees. The truck received heavy damage in the collision and the restrained driver suffered multiple non-life threatening injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived a short time later and began treating the man's injuries.  Click here for additional information.
