24/May/2025 - Shooting Incident with Air Evac - "A" Shift An adult male was shot in both legs during an incident in the 800 block of Brittlebank Road Saturday morning 24-May at 00:25. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man at the scene and requested a medical helicopter. C.A.R.E. Flight was returning to Walterboro from another response and met Fire-Rescue Medic 26 at the National Guard Armory, where they landed in the parking lot. The patient was transferred to the Flightcrew, then flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. Click here for additional information. |

23/May/2025 - Fatal MVC - "A" Shift At 00:07 Saturday morning 24-May, a passing motorist reported a vehicle on fire on the side of the road at approximately the 1300 block of Benton Farm Road. A Sheriff's Deputy arrived a few minutes later to advise the vehicle was off of the road and appeared to have been in an accident. The Deputy noted the vehicle was fully involved. Engine 1 arrived to find the small car with heavy front end damage, where it had struck a large pine tree. An approximately 1/4 acre woods fire was also burning around the car. 21/May/2025 - EMS Appreciation Week Colleton Medical Center treated First Responders to breakfast each day this week and a special lunch Wednesday in honor of National Emergency Medical Services Week, Hospital Staff was on hand during the luncheon. All on-duty crews were rotated through the hospital and several off-duty personnel also attended. Click here for additional information. |

20/May/2025 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift Fire-Rescue units responded to a structure fire at 335 Estates Drive Tuesday morning 20-May at 00:05. The occupants notified 9-1-1 of the fire and advised all occupants had safely exited the home. Engine 19 arrived to find smoke coming from the residence. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one handline to the home and contained the fire to the kitchen saving the residence. The remainder of the home suffered smoke damage. 19/May/2025 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift An outdoor storage building was destroyed and a mobile home damaged Monday evening 19-May at 16796 Sniders Hwy. (SC Hwy 63) in the Islandton Community. 9-1-1 was notified of the storage building fire at 19:06. Engine 15 arrived to find the small wood frame structure fully involved and had already collapsed. The heat from the fire damaged a nearby mobile home and utility trailer. Firefighters deployed two handlines, protected and cooled the mobile home, then extinguished the remains of the storage building. Click here for additional information. |

17/May/2025 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift A residential structure was heavily damaged during an evening fire in the 500 block of Pulis Road Saturday afternoon 17-May at 19:17. A neighbor called 9-1-1 reporting smoke coming from the building. Engine 19 arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the small single story wood frame structure. Firefighters deployed two handlines and entered the building, quickly extinguishing the fire. No one was injured in the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 17/May/2025 - ATV MVC with Air Evac - "A" Shift Two adult males were transported to a Trauma Center after the ATVs they were riding collided head-on in the 2300 block of Johnsville Road Saturday afternoon 17-May at 16:17. Engine 7 and Medic 7 treated the men at the scene and requested a medical helicopter and a second Fire-Rescue ambulance. Initial reports to 9-1-1 advised one man was unconscious. Neither driver was wearing a helmet and both suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Click here for additional information. |

17/May/2025 - Fatal Shooting Incident - "A" Shift An adult was fatally injured in a shooting incident in the 200 block of King Street Saturday afternoon 17-May at 15:49. Sheriff's Deputies secured the scene so Firefighter-Paramedics could treat the injured man. He was found in the backyard of the residence with no signs of life. The Coroner's Office was contacted and responded to the scene. Two other adults with different injuries were also treated at the scene but did not require ambulance transportation to the hospital. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. Click here for additional information. |

2025/May/16 - Heroism Awards Jennings and Allen The American Legion recognized two Colleton County Firefighters for their heroic actions during a rescue in June 2024 at Edisto Beach. Firefighter-Paramedic Robert Jennings and Firefighter-EMT Tyler Allen responded to a person in distress in the Atlantic Ocean while staffing Medic 20. On arrival, the two discovered a woman caught in a rip current. They donned life vests and swam out to the woman, then pulled her to shore. The woman went into cardiac arrest shortly thereafter and the two along with Edisto Beach firefighters and police officers successfully resuscitated the woman. 14/May/2025 - Traumatic Arrest - "A" Shift An adult female suffered critical injuries after a large tree limb fell and struck her in the head at a residence in the 600 block of Carn Street at 16:56 Wednesday afternoon 14-May. The woman was in a yard with a six year old child, when the tree limb fell approximately 45 feet and struck her on the head. The woman suffered a head injury and collapsed in the yard. The child was not injured. A Fire-Rescue ambulance was only blocks away when the incident was dispatched. Click here for additional information. |

09/May/2025 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift A Springtown family was displaced following a fire that destroyed their home Friday evening 09-May at 22:23. The fire occurred at 8857 Augusta Hwy (SC Hwy 61). A family member advised she was awakened by smoke and found the home on fire. She was able to alert the two other family members and all three escaped the burning structure. Engine 7 arrived to find the single story residential dwelling approximately 70% involved. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines and one 2-1/2 handline to control the fire. Click here for additional information. |

05/May/2025 - MVC with Air Evac - "A" Shift An adult female was critically injured when her motorcycle left the roadway and collided with a mailbox post Monday afternoon 05-May at 16:41. The woman received multiple traumatic injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics treated her at the scene including bleeding control. A medical helicopter was requested and C.A.R.E. Flight landed at the Cottageville Elementary School. The patient was transported emergent to meet with C.A.R.E. Flight. Click here for additional information. |

02/May/2025 - MVC with Air Evac - "A" Shift An adult male was seriously injured after two pickup trucks collided at the intersection of Sniders Hwy (SC Hwy 63) and Cypress Pond Road Friday evening 02-May at 20:38. The man was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, but his condition quickly deteriorated. He was transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 1 to the CARE Flight base. He was transferred to the Flight crew and flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. The driver of the second truck was not injured. Click here for additional information. |

01/May/2025 - Business Preparedness Workshop Fire-Rescue's Emergency Management Division and the Colleton County Chamber of Commerce conducted a Business Preparedness Workshop at the Colleton County Emergency Operations Center on Simmons Street Thursday morning 01-May. The event was conducted to assist local businesses prepare for a disaster and the recovery phase of a disaster such as a hurricane or cyber attack. The EOC and live stream had many participants.
