28-November-2021 - Shooting Incident - "A" Shift

An adult female was struck by two pellets from a shotgun blast during a domestic dispute on Head Lane Sunday evening 28-November at 23:46. The woman was stuck in the hand and the leg, but fortunately the injuries were not life threatening. She was treated at the scene by Fire-Rescue, then transported to Colleton Medical Center by Medic 19. The Sheriff's Office searched the area for the suspect and is investigating the incident. Click here for additional information.
28/November/2021 - MVC with Air Evac - "A" Shift

A two vehicle, high speed MVC, sent four people to a Trauma Center Sunday evening 28-November at 20:17. Two patients, one child and one adult female received life-threatening injuries. The accident occurred near the 43 mile marker northbound when a Volkswagen Passat collided with a trailer being pulled by the second vehicle. The Passat then entered the median where it struck a tree causing heavy damage to the car. The engine was propelled approximately 20 feet from the car and a tree was against the fire wall. 27/November/2021 - Fatal Shooting Incident - "C" Shift

An adult male was fatally injured in a shooting incident in the parking lot of the Little Caesars Pizza Restaurant, located at 1324 North Jefferies Blvd, Saturday afternoon 27-November at 15:51. A caller to 9-1-1 reported the man was down in the parking lot. A courageous off duty nurse was at the location, ran to the victim and began administering aid. Fire-Rescue, City and County Law Enforcement arrived minutes later. Firefighter-Paramedics found the man non-responsive with no signs of life. The Coroner's Office was notified and responded to the scene. Click here for additional information.
25/November/2021 - Fatal Structure Fire - "A" Shift

Fire-Rescue was alerted to a structure fire at 1226 Shawnee Lane Thursday evening 25-November at 17:57. The home is located on a small dead end rural dirt road north of the Town of Smoaks. A neighbor's son reported seeing an orange glow across a field and told his parents the home was on fire. They called 9-1-1 and ran to the residence to assist. The home was occupied by a 94 year old wheelchair bound woman. The two reported seeing flames coming from several windows in the house and the front porch was on fire. 24/November/2021 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Firefighter-Paramedics extinguished a fire in the kitchen of a residence in the 100 block of Franklin Street, Wednesday afternoon 24-November at 13:00. The fire was isolated to the area of the stove and contained to the kitchen, however the home suffered smoke damage. Engine 19 arrived to find light smoke coming from the single story residential structure. The family was able to safely exit the building. Crews deployed one 1-3/4 handline to the building and entered through the front door. They used a 20 lb. ABC extinguisher to douse the flames. Click here for additional information.
21-November-2021 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

A Round O man was displaced after losing his home to an early morning fire in the 500 block of Rowe Lane, Sunday morning 21-November at 05:25. Engine 9 and Medic 9 arrived to find the small approx. 500 sq. ft building was fully involved and had already partially collapsed. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one 1-3/4 handline 200 feet into the wooded area to reach  the building. The fire spread to nearby materials next to the building. The man was asleep in the building when a neighbor woke him and let him know the building was on fire. Click here for additional information.
20-November-2021 - MVC with Air Evac - "B" Shift

A Myrtle Beach man received a suspected head injury in a single vehicle high speed MVC at the intersection of I-95 and McLeod Road Saturday evening 20-November. A woman entering the ramp from McLeod Rd noticed headlights in the woods and stopped to investigate. She found the man lying outside of the vehicle in a semiconscious state, then called 9-1-1. She and her companions stayed on scene with the injured man until Fire-Rescue arrived. The vehicle was traveling northbound on the exit ramp, when it failed to stop at McLeod Road.  Click here for additional information.
17/November/2021 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

A 94 yr old man was displaced following a fire in his home Wednesday evening 17-Nov. At 19:02, a neighbor called 9-1-1 reporting flames coming from the roof of the home in the 200 block of Deloach Ave. The neighbors alerted the man and got him safely out of the burning building. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later, but were unable to access the structure due to low hanging trees at the driveway. They found the west end of the large single story home well involved with fire already through the roof over the garage and kitchen. Engine 1, positioned on Deleach Ave. at the head of the driveway. 17/November/2021 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential fire in the 100 block of Nottingham Lane in the Roadside Community Wednesday afternoon 17-November at 12:19. First arriving units noted the home was not involved, however an open air car port and two out buildings were fully involved. A pump house was on fire, a debris pile was well involved and an approximately one acre grass fire was burning in a field next to the home. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple hand lines to combat the fires and to protect the residence. Click here for additional information.

14/November/2021 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

A kitchen fire in a residence caused damage to the stove and cabinets around the stove Sunday morning 14-November at 04:21. Fire-Rescue units arrived to find light smoke coming from the mobile home. The occupant had extinguished the fire prior to Fire Units arriving. The fire started in the area of the stove and spread to cabinets. It burned to the outside of the structure though the vent and up the exterior wall to the roof. There was no extension to the roof and the fire did not enter the void space above the ceiling. 13/November/2021 - Animal Attack - "A" Shift

A 71 year old Walterboro resident was critically injured after she was attacked by a pit bull in the 300 block of Rivers Street Saturday afternoon 13-November at 12:28. The woman was found conscious in the backyard of the home with multiple injuries. One arm was almost amputated. Law Enforcement secured the scene and a Sheriff's Office Captain was controlling bleeding when Fire-Rescue arrived. Firefighter-Paramedics began treating the woman in the yard and placed the CARE Flight helicopter on standby. Click here for additional information.
12/November/2021 - Fatal Shooting Incident - "C" Shift

A 35 yr old woman was fatally injured in a shooting incident on Green Pond Hwy. just north of Runner Lane, Friday evening 12-November. Sheriff's Deputies and Fire-Rescue responded to the location at 23:14. The female patient was found with no signs of life and was turned over to the Coroner's Office. An adult male was also treated at the scene for a non-life threatening laceration to his arm. He denied ambulance transportation to the hospital. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. Click here for additional information.
12/November/2021 - Water Rescue - "A', "B" & "C" Shifts

Fire-Rescue, the Sheriff's Office and DNR units responded to the Chehaw River off of Wiggins Road near Tilly Island for a missing boater Friday evening at 18:18. Another boater reported seeing an empty boat in the marsh with no one around it just before dusk. 9-1-1 Operators eventually found some family members who verified the occupant of the vessel. Law Enforcement discovered the boat was not running, but the throttle was still engaged. The three responding agencies put several boats in the water and searched the dark waters north and south of Chehaw Landing for over five hours. Searchers used lighting, thermal imaging equipment and side scanning sonar during the search. Click here for more info.
11/November/2021 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Three adult males were displaced following a fire in a residence at 94 Gobbler Circle the Green Pond Community Thursday afternoon 11-Nov at 10:43. An occupant discovered the fire in a bedroom and alerted 9-1-1. Engine 6, stationed in Green Pond, arrived minutes later to find the single wide mobile home approximately 35% involved, with flames through the roof on the east side of the building. The home had two additions and a second metal roof installed over the original metal roof. Click here for additional information.
07/November/2021 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

Firefighters saved a home in the 600 block of Capers Road Sunday afternoon 07-November. At 14:01, Fire-Rescue was dispatched to the location reporting a fire in an upstairs bedroom. On arrival Engine 1 found light smoke coming from the eaves of the two story, brick veneer structure. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one handline through the front door and encountered high heat and heavy smoke conditions on the second floor. Visibility on the second floor was zero. They located the fire in a bedroom on the eastside of the residence and were able to quickly extinguish the flames. Click here for additional information.
05/November/2021 - Shooting Incident - "B" Shift

A ten year old girl received a GSW to the face in an reported accidental shooting incident at her home in the 1300 block of Chisholm Rd. Friday evening 05-Nov. at 19:27. The caller to 9-1-1 advised an adult was attempting to unload a handgun when it discharged. The bullet struck a ten year female in the face.  Firefighter-Paramedics found the child in stable condition and the injury did not appear life-threatening. Family members had controlled the bleeding prior to the arrival of Fire-Rescue. She was treated at the scene, then transported to the Children's Trauma Center at MUSC in Fire-Rescue Medic 26. 05/November/2021 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

A workshop/storage building, as well as several motors and transmissions, were destroyed in an early morning fire in the 600 block of Phillips Road Friday morning 05-November at 03:47. Callers to 9-1-1 reported the building was well involved and responding units could see the fire two miles before they reached the scene. Engine 19 arrived to find most of the building had collapsed. The fire had spread to nearby woods. The owner reported they had replaced the vent pipe on a wood burning stove the day before and a man started a fire in the stove earlier in the morning due to the cold weather. 04/November/2021 - Yard, Vehicle & Building Fire - "A" Shift

A trash fire got out of control in the 200 block of Advent Road north of Smoaks Thursday afternoon 04-November destroying a storage building and a truck. At 13:07, Fire-Rescue was dispatched to the location advising that a storage building and a vehicle were on fire. Units arrived to find the yard on fire, a fully involved approx.12x12 storage building, a fully involved pickup truck and a second vehicle with damage. Crews deployed multiple hand lines to combat the fire, having it under control within 15 minutes. The homeowner had been burning trash in a 55 gallon drum. Click here for additional information..  
03/November/2021 - Fatal MVC with Entrapment Mutual Aid Response

Colleton Fire-Rescue responded as mutual aid to assist Hampton County with a fatal high speed MVC on I-95 near the 40 mile marker SB at the county line Wednesday 03-November at 01:35.  A southbound tractor trailer appeared to have struck the median side guardrail at the Combahee River bridge, crossed to the right side and rode the guardrail on the bridge until it ended. The truck went down an embankment into the swamp, overturned and struck several large trees causing massive damage to the semi-truck. The load of wine was ejected through the front of the trailer and littered the scene. Click here for additional information.
