05/November/2021 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

Incident # 21-07941 - A workshop/storage building, as well as several motors and transmissions, were destroyed in an early morning fire in the 600 block of Phillips Road Friday morning 05-November at 03:47. Callers to 9-1-1 reported the building was well involved and responding units could see the fire two miles before they reached the scene. Engine 19 arrived to find most of the building had collapsed. The fire had spread to nearby woods. The owner reported they had replaced the vent pipe on a wood burning stove the day before and a man started a fire in the stove earlier in the morning due to the cold weather. The man was awakened to the building burning and attempted to extinguish the fire. He received burns to his hands and was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, who transported him to Colleton Medical Center in Fire-Rescue Medic 19. Other crew members used a deck gun and several hand lines to extinguish the fire. Units were on the scene for close to three hours.

Engine 19, Engine 24, Tender 1, Tender 5, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 9, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
