11/November/2021 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Incident # 21-08099 - Three adult males were displaced following a fire in a residence at 94 Gobbler Circle the Green Pond Community Thursday afternoon 11-Nov at 10:43. An occupant discovered the fire in a bedroom and alerted 9-1-1. Engine 6, stationed in Green Pond, arrived minutes later to find the single wide mobile home approximately 35% involved, with flames through the roof on the east side of the building. The home had two additions and a second metal roof installed over the original metal roof. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple hand lines to the building, with one crew making entry through the front door. They had the bulk of the fire knocked down within 20 minutes, but performed overhaul for close to two hours. The fire burned between the two metal roofs, which hampered efforts to extinguish the fire. Crews removed portions of the top layer and used a reciprocating saw to cut through the original roof to reach the fire between the two layers. The fire appears to have started in the area of a space heater in a bedroom in the addition. All three occupants were able to safely exit the structure. The east end of the building was destroyed, but Firefighters stopped the advance of the fire and saved the west end of the building. The interior suffered heat and smoke damage and most personal items were damaged. The home had no insurance. The Red Cross is assisting the family. Fire units were on the scene for four hours.

Engine 2, Engine 6, Tender 1, Tender 2, Tender 6, Tender 25, Medic 1, Medic 6, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
