23/April/2015 – MVC w/double Entrapment – “B” Shift

Two women were injured, one severely, in a head-on collision in the 2600 block of Cottageville Hwy (US Hwy17-A) east of Phillips Road Thursday afternoon 23-April. At 17:20, Fire-Rescue was notified of the two car accident on the busy highway. Initial callers to 9-1-1 advised both drivers were trapped in the wreckage. Engine 19 arrived to find two passenger cars in the roadway with heavy damage. The entire roadway was blocked by the vehicles and debris. Click here for more information.

23/April/2015 – Over-turned Tractor Trailer – “A” Shift

A 26 year old Orangeburg man miraculously received non-life threatening injuries when his tractor trailer over-turned in the 28000 block of Lowcountry Highway Thursday morning 23-April at 05:39. The southbound truck left the roadway a moderate speeds and drove through at least two residential yards, before striking several trees. The loaded semi-truck over-turned and broke into two pieces. 19/April/2015 – Fatal Shooting Incident – “C” Shift

An adult male was killed and two other people were injured in a shooting incident at the Sportz Center nightclub located at 2427 Hampton Street Sunday morning 19-April. At 00:52, Fire-Rescue was notified of the incident advising of a person being shot at the location. As Firefighter-Paramedics and Law Enforcement arrived at the establishment, dispatchers advised one victim had arrived that the hospital by private car. 18/April/2015 – Lowcountry Regional Airport Annual Air Show 

The Lowcountry Regional Airport hosted their annual Wings and Wheels air and antique automobile show Saturday 18-April. Despite early morning rain and overcast skies, the event was attended by several thousand spectators. The crowds were treated to vintage aircraft, para-troopers, vintage, modern and experimental aircraft and an antique car show. Click here for more information.

4/18/2015-
We wish to offer condolences to Firefighter Explorer Tyler Hardee and his family on the loss of his grandfather Gilbert Grayson Easterlin who died Friday at Roper Hospital in Charleston. A graveside service will be conducted at Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro, Monday afternoon 20-April at 16:00.  Mr. Easterlin served as a Law Enforcement Officer with the City of Walterboro, Colleton County Sheriff’s Office and retired as a Wildlife Officer from the SC Dept of Natural Resources.

4/13/2015-
We have been advised by the SCDOT that the bridge located on Dry Branch Road (S-15-328) will be replaced. Construction will begin 20-April and should be completed by 26-June. Please plan on an alternate route when responding to this area.

13/April/2015 – Shooting Incident – “C” Shift

A 47 year old man received a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the hand Monday morning 13-April at 02:43. The incident occurred at 212 Enterprise Street where multiple shots were fired into a residence. The man was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, then transported to Colleton Medical Center. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Click here for more information.

12/April/2014 – ATV Accident w/Air Evac – “B” Shift

Two people were injured, one seriously in a ATV Rhino side by side accident Sunday afternoon 12-April. At 18:37, Fire-Rescue was sent to a wooded location behind 246 Cory Lane for an overturned ATV. Both patients had been ejected from the vehicle. Several military medics were on the scene. They rendered care and assisted Firefighter-Paramedics. A 25 yr old male and 24 yr old female were injured. 4/9/2015-
Firefighter-EMT Kristen Dias is participating in the 2016 Charleston Firefighter Calendar Competition to raise money for Tody’s Fund in support of Charleston Animal Society. Dias is one of thirty one firefighters competing for the fifteen calendar slots. For her to be selected, she has to be in the top 15 money raisers, so she needs your help and that of your friends and family’s to donate to this worthy cause. The deadline is 10-May, one month away. 07/April/2015 – Shooting Incident – “A” Shift

A 23 year old female received a life threatening gunshot wound in a shooting incident at 1014 Carn Street. Twenty six minutes after another shooting incident occurred on Jared Road, Fire-Rescue and Walterboro Police were dispatched to the corner of Carn and Gerideau Streets for multiple shots being fired. Initial reports indicated two people were injured, however when responders arrived, there was only one patient. Click here for more information.

07/April/2015 – Shooting Incident – “A” Shift

A 53 year old man was critically injured after receiving a gunshot wound to the chest Tuesday evening 07-April. At 23:38, Fire-Rescue and Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to 62 Jared Road for the report of a person being shot. Firefighter-Paramedics found the man in extreme difficulty and began treating him on scene. LifeNet 4, stationed at Colleton Medical Center was placed on standby. Crews rapidly transported him to the helipad and transferred care to the Flightcrew. Click here for more information.

06/April/2015 – MVC with Air Evac – “C” Shift 

A 23 year old male suffered multiple traumatic injuries after a motorcycle accident on Hendersonville Hwy. (US Hwy. 17-A) at Peniel Road Monday afternoon 06-April at 15:00. Witnesses stated the driver lost control of the motorcycle after he was passed by tractor trailer and then crashed in the roadway. Firefighter-Paramedics found the man ambulatory at the scene with multiple traumatic injuries and a head injury. Click here for more information.

05/April/2015 – Structure and Woods Fire – “B” Shift

A field fire driven by moderate winds, quickly spread to several structures Sunday morning 05-April. At 11:12, Fire-Rescue units were sent to a fire in a field off of Weslegacy Lane near Green Pond Highway south of Walterboro. Engine 1 arrived to find a rapidly moving fire in the 1-1/2 acre field. The field, fence posts along the south side were burning, as well a small debris pile north of the location. The fire was driven into an overgrown wooden area west of the field.  Click here for more information.

04/April/2015 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift

A small outdoor storage building was destroyed in an afternoon fire at 359 Monticello Lane west of Cottageville Saturday afternoon 04-April. At 16:40 Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at the location. Engine 9 arrived to find a small outdoor storage building fully involved.  Most of the building had already collapsed. Firefighters deployed one 1-3/4 handline to extinguish the remaining fire and to perform overhaul. Units were on the scene for one hour. Click here for more information.

04/April/2015 – MVC w/Air Evac – “C” Shift

A 44 year old Tennessee man suffered critical injuries in a motorcycle crash Saturday morning 04-April. At 09:38, Fire-Rescue was sent to the 7400 block of Sidneys Road were the motorcycle left the roadway in a curve and flipped over in the ditch. The driver was ejected into a wooded area. He received multiple traumatic injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics immediately called for a medical helicopter when they arrived at the scene. Click here for more information.

02/April/2015 – Car vs Tractor Trailer MVC – “B” Shift

Three people were injured and transported to Colleton Medical Center after a tractor trailer and passenger car collided at the intersection of Bells Hwy and Upchurch Lane, Thursday morning 02-April at 10:07. The adult female driver of the car received multiple traumatic injuries in the crash. She was transported to Colleton Medical Center and later transferred by private ambulance to the Trauma Center at MUSC. Click here for more information.

01/April/2015 – High Angle Training for Sheriff’s Office – “B” Shift

Members of Fire-Rescue conducted a training session Wednesday 01-April for members of the Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT Team. The SWAT members covered material involving ropes and knots, rigging and repelling. The course included classroom instruction and hands on training which lasted most of the day. 01/April/2015 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

A doublewide mobile home was destroyed at 347 Gobbler Circle Wednesday morning 01-April at 00:28. The home was the site of a previous fire on 06-March where firefighters saved the home, containing the fire to one room and a portion of the attic space. Engine 6 arrived to find the dwelling fully involved. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to combat the fire and had it under control in less than thirty minutes... click here for more information.
