07/April/2015 – Shooting Incident – “A” Shift

Incident # 15-01906 – A 23 year old female received a life threatening gunshot wound in a shooting incident at 1014 Carn Street. Twenty six minutes after another shooting incident occurred on Jared Road, Fire-Rescue and Walterboro Police were dispatched to the corner of Carn and Gerideau Streets for multiple shots being fired. Initial reports indicated two people were injured, however when responders arrived, there was only one patient. The woman was found inside the residence with an abdominal injury. Her condition deteriorated at the scene. While Firefighter-Paramedics treated the patient, a medical helicopter was requested and sent to the Lowcountry Regional Airport. The patient was placed in Medic 19, then transported to the airport. She was transferred to the Meducare flight crew and flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. City Police units arrived on the scene quickly and chased the fleeing suspect’s vehicle about 17 miles into the county. The car skidded off of a dirt road on the Donnelly Wildlife Management property south of Green Pond. Sheriff Deputies and Law Enforcement officers from several agencies conducted a man hunt through the night. Walterboro Police is investigating the incident.

Engine 19, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 105 responded. Captain (Acting Battalion Chief) Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.
