30/April/2017 – Fatal MVC with entrapment – “B” shift

One person died and three others were injured following a head-on crash on Augusta Hwy (SC Hwy 61) at the Colleton-Dorchester County line Sunday evening 30-April at 18:22. Dorchester County received the reports of the accident first and arrived before Colleton units. The accident was actually about 100 feet into Colleton County. The two passenger cars struck head-on just west of the Edisto River bridge trapping both drivers. Click here for more information.

30/April/2017 – First Responder Appreciation Luncheon

Rice Patch Christian Church in Islandton held a First Responder Appreciation service and luncheon Sunday 30-April. The service began at 11:00 and was attended by Fire-Rescue personnel from Colleton and Hampton Counties. It honored all First Responders for their contributions to the community. Following the service, the church provided an incredible meal for attendees in the fellowship hall.  Click here for more information.

30/April/2017 – Fatal MVC Double Entrapment - “B” Shift

A truck driver is credited with saving the lives of three people following a multi-vehicle accident on I-95 near the 49 mile marker northbound. Apparently a car collided with a pickup truck causing the pickup truck to spin out of control on the rain slick highway. The car slid down the embankment and struck a tree trapping the male driver. The pickup truck came to rest sideways in the travel lanes. Click here for more information.

4/25/2017 - All personnel are reminded about the First Responder Appreciation Service this Sunday, April 30, at Rice Patch Christian Church in Islandton located at the intersection of Sniders Hwy. and Ashton Rd.  Worship Service will start at 11:00 and dinner will be served immediately after the service.  All fire service and law enforcement personnel and their families are invited.  Please RSVP Rev. 12/April/2017 – Structure Fires – “B” Shift

Two storage buildings were destroyed, a third damaged and a tree house was damage in an afternoon fire in the 200 block of Chamblee Road Wednesday 12-April. At 16:37, 9-1-1 was notified of a building and yard fire at 236 Chamblee Road. Car 105 arrived to find a fully involved 12x40 storage building, 100 feet of wood fence burning, a second fully involved 12x12 storage building on the adjacent property and a fast moving ¼ acre grass fire. 12/April/2017 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift

A fire on the stove damaged the kitchen of a home located at 919 Silkhope Lane Wednesday 12-April. At 15:58, Fire-Rescue was notified of the fire in the residence. First arriving units found light smoke coming from the doublewide mobile home. The occupants had been cooking when the fire occurred and the flames spread to the cabinets above the stove. 08/April/2017 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift 

A fire heavily damaged a residence at 17721 Round O Road Saturday morning 08-April. At 08:16 Fire-Rescue was alerted to the incident with the caller reporting flames coming from the window of the home. Engine 19 arrived to find light smoke coming from the singlewide mobile home. The occupant had used a garden hose and several buckets of water to knock down the flames which gutted one bedroom, extended into the hall and damaged a second bedroom. 05/April/2017 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

A lightning strike resulted in a fire that destroyed a work shop, tools and tractor Wednesday afternoon 05-April. At 19:14, during a thunderstorm, Firefighters were sent to 1313 Edward Road. Engine 1 arrived to find the approx. 30x50 building fully involved. The fire was endangering one exposure. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines to extinguish the fire. Lightning struck a large oak tree next to the building just prior to the fire. Click here for more information.

03/April/2017 – Industrial Structural Fire – “B” Shift

Quick action by employees at the Dayco Plant 938 Thunderbolt Drive, lessened the damage caused by a fire in the ceiling of an equipment room. At 18:00, on Monday 03-April during a thunderstorm, a lightning strike caused a fire in electrical wiring that spread to the wooden roof joists and insulation above an equipment room on the north side of the industrial complex. 03/April/2017 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Firefighters saved a home at 546 Abbey Lane in the Burr Hill Community Monday morning 03-April. At 00:31, 9-1-1 received a report of a residence with flames burning on the porch and the front of the building. Firefighters arrived minutes later to find flames around the front door and on the roof. Crews deployed two handlines and quickly contained the fire to one room. The home suffered smoke damage. 02/April/2017 – MVC with Ejection – “C” Shift

A Colleton County man was critically injured in a single car MVC on Ritter Road at the intersection of Blue House Lane. The east bound Jeep Grand Cherokee left the roadway, over corrected and ran through the front yard of a home located on the corner, before overturning several times. The unrestrained driver was ejected from the Jeep and found semi-conscious lying in a field near the overturned Jeep. Click here for more information.
