Incident # 26-06791 - An adult was seriously injured in a MVC on McLeod Road near Pleasant Grove Road 11-August at 20:26. The vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees. Two trees fell across the vehicle, trapping the driver. Firefighter-Paramedics found the driver unconscious. They began treating the patient in the vehicle while other crewmembers used Holmatro Pentheon rescue tools to remove two doors to extricate the driver. A medical helicopter was requested and CARE Flight responded to the scene, landing approx. 1/4 mile from the scene on Cresent Way. Fire-Rescue Medic 26 transported the patient to meet with CARE Flight. They was flown to the Trauma Center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Engine 26, Medic 26, Rescue 1 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as Incident Commander.
