Incident # 26-06431 - An adult was severely injured in a single vehicle MVC in the approx. 4000 Blk of Featherbed Road Friday morning 31-July at 05:56. The northbound Dodge Pickup Truck severed to avoid two deer in the road and dropped off of the shoulder. The truck overcorrected and lost control, crossing into the southbound ditch where it struck two trees. The driver's side of the cab received heavy damage, crushing the roof into the interior. The driver suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the patient at the scene and requested a medical helicopter. The patient was transported to the CARE Flight base to meet with the Flight Crew. They were flown to the Trauma Center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Engine 19 and Medic 19 responded. Firefighter-EMT Brad Welch served as Incident Commander.
