18/July/2026 - Structure Fire - "B" shift Incident # 26-06026 - Fire-Rescue units responded to a residence in the 700 block of Branch Ave at 06:56 Saturday morning 18-July for a structure fire. Engine 19 arrived to find smoke visible from all side of the singlewide mobile home. The occupants advised the fire started in the air handler inside the mobile home. Several animals were still inside the building and the homeowner was having difficulty breathing possibly due to smoke inhalation. Crews quickly located the fire which was in the air handler. The fire had burned underneath the mobile home and spread along the bottom of the floor. While Firefighter-Paramedics from Medic 26 treated the woman, other crewmembers deployed one 1-3/4 handline to the structure. Crews removed several sections of the underpinning and crawled under the building to extinguished the fire. The fire damaged the floor, electrical wiring and plumbing underneath the structure. Firefighters rescued the animals from the smoke filled home. The injured resident was transported to HCA Colleton Hospital in Walterboro for additional treatment. Fire units were on the scene for approximately 1-1/2 hours. Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 5, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 105 responded. Battalion Chief Matt Smart served as incident Commander. |
