11/July/2026 - Car vs Go Cart MVC - "A" Shift


Incident # 26-05838 - An adult was injured when the go-cart they were operating was struck by a car on Jefferies Hwy. (US Hwy 15) just south of Cottonwood Lane, Saturday night 11-July at 23:46. The black go-cart was not equipped with lights or reflective tape and was traveling north on Jefferies Hwy in the travel lane. The area is in a dark rural section of the highway without street lights. The small vehicle was struck by a passenger car also travelling north, causing damage to the car. The driver of the car was not injured and could not see the go-cart. The go-cart driver was not wearing a helmet and suffered several injuries. Law Enforcement Officers arrived quickly and applied a tourniquet to the driver's leg to control severe bleeding. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the patient at the scene, then transported them emergent to the Trauma Center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston. The SC Hwy. Patrol is investigating the crash. 


Engine 19, Medic 26 and Battalion 1 responded. Captain Alex Koontz served as Incident Commander.
