10/July/2026 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift Incident # 26-05778 - A Round O Community home suffered damage from an afternoon fire Friday 10-July at 18:33. Initial reports to 9-1-1 indicated the fire was in the garage and attic at the home in the 13000 block of Round O Road. Engine 9 arrived minutes later to confirm heavy smoke conditions and fire in the garage. The homeowner had safely exited the home and was able to get a dog out of the house. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one handline and entered through the front door. They quickly knocked down the fire in the garage and then began working on the fire in the attic. A winch was used to remove the damaged garage door from the residence so firefighters could safely operate in the garage. Crews rescued a cat from the home. The animal did not appear to be injured. The garage suffered heavy damage in the incident, but the remainder of the home suffered light smoke and water damage. Most personnel items were saved. The fire appears to have started from an extension cord in the garage, which spread up a wall and into the attic. Fire units were on the scene for close to three hours. Engine 9. Engine 19, Engine 27, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 24, Tender 27, Tender 32, Medic 9, Medic 19 and Battalion 1 responded. Captain Alex Koontz served as Incident Commander. Photos by Harold Buzzell |
