Incident # 26-04963 - A pedestrian was killed when they were struck by a pickup truck in the 2000 block of ACE Basin Parkway (US Hwy 17) just south of Wiggins Road Saturday morning 13-June at 04:34. The victium was wearing all black clothing and walking in the southbound lane of the highway. The rural section of the highway has no street lighting and the area was dark. A south bound Toyota pickup truck did not see the person and struck them in the travel lanes. The victim suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was thrown to the south bound shoulder near the wood line. The pickup truck suffered heavy damage and was not drivable. The driver was not injured. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived minutes later, but the injured suffered fatal injuries and had no signs of life. The Coroner's Office was notified and responded to the scene. Once the Coroner's Office and SCHP completed their investigations, the Coroner's Office transported the deceased to the morgue.
Engine 6, Medic 6 and Battalion 1 responded. Capt. Mike Duffy served as Incident Commander.
