09/May/2026 - Motorcoach MVC - "C" Shift Incident # 26-003258 - At approximately 1248 AM, the 911 center received reports of a crash in 3200 Block of Confederate Highway. Phone service in the remote area is not the best and there were limited details. The 911 caller reported the driver was trapped in the wreckage due to the front of the bus being crushed. Heavy Rescue assets, Battalion 1, and CARE Flight were added to the incident. M-18 arrived moments later and reported a large travel bus, completely blocking the roadway, with heavy damage. E-18 arrived on scene and deployed a 16 foot roof ladder to access the driver. The driver was conscious and alert and stated there were no passengers on the bus. Firefighter/Paramedics were able to extricate the driver in full spinal precautions and was transferred to M-18 for further evaluation and treatment. CARE Flight was dispatched, but was not needed. M-18 transported the driver to HCA - Colleton Hospital. Crews remained on scene for 7 hours awaiting wrecker companies to clear the wreckage and open the roadway.
