16/March/2026 - Car vs Tree - "C" Shift

Incident # 26-02124 - An adult driver received non-life threatening injuries when a tree fell on the car in the 1800 block of Merrick Drive 16-March at 06:27. The vehicle was traveling south on the rural secondary road when the tree fell over, crossing the road and landing on his car. The car received heavy damage, but the driver was able to exit the vehicle. The tree blocked the entire two lane road and broke off a power pole causing the power lines to also fall into the road. Fire-Rescue units positioned north and south of the tree to alert other drivers of the hazard. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the driver at the scene, but they denied ambulance transport to the hospital. Coastal Electric sent several units to the scene to replace the power pole. The accident was investigated by the SC Hwy Patrol. SCDOT also responded. The portion of Merrick Drive was closed for three hours.

Engine 19 and Medic 19 responded. Engineer-Paramedic Daniel Barb served as incident Commander.
