Incident # 26-00565 - A two vehicle head-on collision claimed one life and blocked Jefferies Hwy. (US Hwy 15) for three hours Wednesday morning 21-January at 09:23. A Toyota Camry and a full sized Chevrolet Pickup collided in the 4500 block in front of the Walterboro Church of God. The driver of the Camry was deceased when responders arrived. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The restrained driver of the pickup truck received serious injuries and was unconscious shortly after the collision. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man at the scene, then transported him to the helipad at the CARE Flight base. He was flown to the Trauma Center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
