Incident # 25-09084 - An office at the SCDOT facility located at 22575 Lowcountry Hwy in the Ruffin Community, received substantial damage from a fire Friday afternoon 14-Nov. At 12:03, an alert passing motorist noticed smoke coming from the building and reported it to 9-1-1. Engine 18 arrived minutes later to find smoke coming from the eaves of the metal office building. Firefighters deployed one handline and forced entry into the building. They quickly extinguished the fire inside the structure. It appears the fire started in the area of an exhaust fan located in the ceiling of a bathroom. The fire burned the ceiling and spread to the roof. Units were on the scene for two hours. No one was at the office when the fire was reported and no one was injured.
Engine 7, Engine 18, Tender 7, Tender 15, Tender 18, Tender 26, Medic 7, Medic 18 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as Incident Commander.
