11/September/2025 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

Incident # 25-07161 - Fire-Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of Cumberland Street Thursday afternoon 11-Sept. At 15:06, the occupant returned home from picking her children up from school and found the home on fire. Engine 1 arrived to find the doublewide mobile home with heavy smoke showing from all sides of the building. The occupant advised there were several animals inside the building. Firefighters made entry through the front door and discovered two deceased canines in cages near the front door. They pulled the animals from the home, but they were beyond help. Crews deployed one 1-3/4" handline inside the building and quickly extinguished the fire which was in the kitchen. The fire had entered the attic space, so crews had to pull the ceiling down in several rooms to reach the fire. The remainder of the home was saved, as well as many personal belongings. The home suffered heavy damage in the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the building. A third canine and four cats were also found in the structure, all were sadly deceased. The fire appears to have started on the counter in the kitchen. Units were on the scene for two hours.

Engine 1, Engine 27, Tender 1, Tender 6, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 1, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 105, Car 107 and Car 111 responded. Deputy Chief David Greene served as Incident Commander.
