Incident # 25-04529 - A child was severely injured when the Moped he was driving was struck in the side at the intersection of Foxfield Road and Fourth Street Saturday afternoon 07-June at 15:58. The small child, approx. 11 years old, was thrown approx. 30 feet into the ditch. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries and witnesses advised he was unconscious following the collision. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the child at the scene and requested a medical helicopter. C.A.R.E. Flight responded to the field in front of the National Guard Armory on Cottageville Hwy to meet with Medic 19. The boy was transferred to the Flightcrew, then flown to the Pediatric Trauma Center at Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital at MUSC in Charlston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
