27/January/2024 - MVC with Air Evac - "A" Shift

Incident # 24-00730 - An adult male was critically injured in a single vehicle motorcycle accident in the 3800 block of Lowcountry Hwy. (US Hwy 21) near Plum Tree Ln. Saturday afternoon 27-January. At 16:10, the south bound Suzuki motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed, when it failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle crossed into the northbound ditch, struck a driveway culvert and flipped over several times, ejecting the driver. The driver was wearing a helmet, but was unconscious following the collision. Firefighter-Paramedics from Station # 13 located 1-1/2 miles away arrived quickly and began treating the man. He required advanced airway management due to his injuries. A medical helicopter was requested. CARE Flight responded and landed in a nearby field. The man was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the MVC. 

Engine 1, Medic 13 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as Incident Commander.
