13/January/2024 - MVC with Entrapment - "B" Shift

Incident # 24-00391 - An adult male suffered multiple traumatic injuries when his utility truck left the roadway at a high rate of speed and struck a large tree in the 2800 block of Jacksonboro Road, Saturday morning 13-January at 06:47. The truck suffered massive damage, with the dash crushed against the back wall and the utility body separating from the frame. The driver was trapped in a small space against the driver's door and miraculously survived. He was conscious and communicated with Rescuers. He advised several deer ran out in front of him and he swerved to avoid hitting the deer. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived to find the truck against the tree with debris littering Jacksonboro Road. They began treating the man's injuries, while other crew members used Holmatro Pentheon Rescue tools to extricate the man. Once he was freed from the wreckage, he was transported emergent to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. No medical helicopters were immediately available. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. 

Engine 6, Engine 9, Medic 6, rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 111 responded. Firefighter Dewayne Jacques Jr., served as Incident Commander.
