20/December/2023 - High Speed MVC - "C" Shift

Incident # 23-09692 - Six people were injured, two seriously, in a two vehicle accident on Interstate 95 near the 42 mile marker southbound, Wednesday evening 20-December at 20:25. The two southbound vehicles collided in a construction zone. Following the collision, a Jeep went off into the median, while a Sebring convertible drove down an embankment and had a second collision when it struck a tree. The Sebring received heavy damage to the exterior and interior of the vehicle. Both adult occupants suffered multiple injuries. Fire-Rescue crews from Station 13 in Jonesville arrived within minutes. They requested one additional Fire-Rescue ambulance and began treating the injured. No medical helicopters were immediately available. The two occupants from the Sebring, were transported emergent to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The other four injured people were transported to Colleton Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. I-95 SB was blocked for about 20 minutes and was then down to one lane for about an hour. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
