30/October/2023 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Incident # 23-08307 - An alert young man helped save a Sidneys Road home Monday afternoon 30-October. At 18:10 Chase Spooner and his mother were traveling on Sidneys Road enroute to the Veterans Victory House, when Chase told his mom he saw a house on fire. She turned their SUV around and found flames coming from a window of a residential dwelling in the 1400 block. She called 9-1-1 and went to check on the homeowner. A neighbor advised the resident should be at home, so she broke a window and made an attempt to get a response from anyone inside. Fire-Rescue units arrived within minutes. Engine 19 found a single story wood frame residence with heavy smoke visible from all of the eaves and flames extending from one window.  Crews deployed one handline to the burning building, making entry through the front door. Fortunately the bedroom door was closed which helped contain the fire to the room of origin. Firefighter-Paramedics quickly extinguished the fire in the bedroom. There was no fire extension into any other part of the residence. The bedroom suffered moderate damage. Firefighters searched the smoke filled home but did not locate any occupants. The cause of the fire was electrical in nature. The building and most personal items were saved. Units were on the scene for one hour.

Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 1. Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 105 and Car 111 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
