24/August/2023 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Incident # 23-06399 - Fire-Rescue responded to a structure fire at 1078 Stokes Road at 17:18 Thursday afternoon 24-August. Engine 26 arrived to find a double wide mobile home with flames visible from the southend of the building, extending above the roof. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to the building and quickly knocked down the flames. The fire had spread to the void space above the living area and extended to the opposite end of the mobile home. Firefighters had to pull the ceilings in most of the residence to reach the fire below the roof. The home had a new metal roof installed over the old shingle roof. This hampered the extinguishment efforts due to the fire burning between the two roofs. Firefighters eventually use a winch to pull the metal roof off of a portion of the building to extinguish the smolder fire between the two roofs. Units were on the scene for five hours. An adult female was transported from the scene to Colleton MEdical Center for evaluation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
