13/April/2023 - PRTC Recognition

PRTC and Fire-Rescue recognized Adam Spooner, a PRTC employee, whose action last week resulted in saving a Cottageville family's home and their pet dog. The event was held at 12:00 on Thursday 13-April at the PRTC Business Office on Robertson Blvd. On 10-April, Spooner was working at a Peirce Rd. residence, when he heard the smoke alarms sounding at home next door. He investigated and discovered the house was on fire with smoke coming from the eaves. He also found a canine inside the smoke filled home. Spooner alerted 9-1-1 and broke into the home to rescue the dog. His actions allowed Fire units to arrive early to extinguish the fire and save the residence. The dog did not appear to suffer any ill effects from the smoke. Spooner was awarded gifts from PRTC, a certificate and plastic fire helmet from Fire-Rescue. Yolanda from PRTC, who coordinated the event, insisted that Spooner receive a plastic fire helmet. Mr. Spooner's family attended the presentation.
