14/November/2022 - MVC with Entrapment - "A" Shift

Incident # 22-08851 - Fire-Rescue responded with Walterboro Fire Dept to a single vehicle MVC on Sweat Street east of North Jefferies Blvd Monday afternoon 14-November at 16:46. A Ford pickup truck, traveling at a high rate speed collided with a guard rail on Sweat Street, went off of the road, over-corrected and flipped over several times before landing on its roof in the wooded swamp. The male occupant was trapped in the wreckage. Firefighter-Paramedics stabilized the vehicle with struts, then used Holmatro hydraulic rescue tools to gain access to the driver and extricated him from the overturned truck. He was immobilized on a backboard, then transported by Fire-Rescue Medic 1 to Colleton Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Traffic on Sweat St was blocked for over an hour. The Walterboro Police Department is investigating the accident. 

Fire Rescue Medic 1, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 103, Car 104, Car 105, Car 112 and Car 118, WFD Engines 1, 2 & 3 responded.
