27/October/2022 - Auto Pedestrian MVC - "A" Shift

Incident # 22-08371 - An adult male was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Lowcountry Hwy. (US Hwy 21) north of Phoenix Circle Thursday evening 27-October. The incident was reported at 21:49 and bystanders advised it was related to street racing. Despite Firefighter-Paramedics being three miles away, the critically injured man was placed in a private car and driven to Orangeburg. At some point they were met by Orangeburg County EMS near the the City of Orangeburg. A medical helicopter was requested and the patient was flown to a Trauma Center in Columbia. He is still in critical condition. The accident is being investigated by the SC Highway Patrol. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene. Lowcountry Highway in the area of the accident was closed for over six hours.
