Incident # 22-06893 - An adult female suffered a head injury when the ATV side by side she was in overturned on a dirt road off of Sunrise Road (SC Hwy 217) Monday morning 05-Sept. At 00:33, Fire-Rescue was sent to a hunting road just south of August Hwy. (SC Hwy 61). The caller reported two people were injured after the ATV overturned. They reported the female had a significant head injury. Two Fire-Rescue Ambulances were assigned to the incident and a medical helicopter was also requested. The accident was approximately 1-1/2 miles down the dirt road from Sunrise Road. Firefighter-Paramedics treated both patients at the scene. The adult male denied ambulance transport to the hospital. The woman was transported by Fire-Rescue Medic 7 to the parking lot at Circle C Truck Stop near I-95 to meet with the Meducare Helicopter. The patient was transferred to the flight crew and flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the MVC.
Engine 26, Medic 7, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 103 and Car 112 responded. Captain Roger Johnston served as Incident Commander.
