At approximately 20:55, Sheriff's Deputies were responding to a reported domestic incident on Welles Lane when 9-1-1 was advised that a man stole a utility truck from the location and had driven away from the scene. A short time later 9-1-1 received a report the utility truck had struck an SUV in the 200 block of Welles Lane and fled the scene. Law Enforcement and Fire-Rescue were sent to the area. Responding Sheriff's Deputies found the heavily damaged Utility truck in front of Doctor's Creek Church on Doctors Creek Road. The truck continued to drive west on Welles Lane, jumped a ditch and drove through a field until reaching the cemetery. The truck then drove through the cemetery until it stopped in front of the church. Responding Deputies found a naked adult male in the truck. When the Deputy attempted to assist the man, the driver attacked the Deputy and began fighting. The Officer called for additional units. The man was subdued. Firefighter-Paramedics also responded to the truck. The naked man was subdued. He was transported to Colleton Medical Center. A second Fire-Rescue Ambulance responded to Welles Ln and treated the adult female driver of the heavily damaged SUV. She received multiple, but not-life threatening injuries.
