16/April/2022 - MVC with Overturned Vehicle - "A" Shift

Incident # 22-02874 - A two vehicle accident at the intersection of Sidneys Road and Round O Road sent five people to area hospitals Saturday 16-April at 10:50. A Nissan Altima collided with a Dodge Pickup truck causing the Dodge to roll-over on its side. A total of three adults and two children were injured. Both vehicles received heavy damage. Four Fire-Rescue ambulances responded to the accident. A 13 yr old male in the pickup truck suffered a head injury and the unrestrained adult male driver of the Nissan received multiple traumatic injuries. All patients were treated at the scene prior to being transported. Fire-Rescue Medic 9, transported the two children and one adult emergent to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The two children went to the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital and their father to the adult Trauma Center. An additional Firefighter-Paramedic assisted during the transport. The adult male driver of the Nissan was transported emergent to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston by Fire-Rescue Medic 19. An additional Firefighter-Paramedic assisted during the transport to Trident. Medic 26 transported a female patient from the Nissan to Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. She received non-life threatening injuries. The intersection at Sidneys Crossroads was closed for about 50 minutes. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. 

Engine 19, Medic 1, Medic 9, Medic 19, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
