06/April/2022 - Auto Pedestrian MVC - "C" Shift

Incident # 22-2588 - An adult male was critically injured after being struck by a car in the 16000 block of ACE Basin Parkway (US Hwy 17) in Jacksonboro Wednesday morning 06-April at 06:11. The man was wearing dark clothing and was walking in the travel lane of the dark highway before dawn. A southbound Buick LaSabre struck the man near the intersection of Clinic Dr causing multiple traumatic injuries and a partial amputation of one leg. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived a short time later to find the man unconscious and in critical condition. The driver of the Buick was not injured and rendered aid to the injured man. He had profuse bleeding from his injured leg and the driver applied his belt as a tourniquet, stopping the bleeding and possibly saving his life. Fire-Rescue Medic 6 continued his care, which included bleeding control and advanced airway care. The man was transported emergent to the Trauma Center at MUSC with two additional Firefighter-Paramedics on board. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. 

Engine 2, Engine 6, Medic 6, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Lt. Brian Drew served as Incident Commander.
