31-March-2022 - MVC with Entrapment - "A" Shift

Incident # 22-02415 - A 34 year old Charleston man was injured in a single car MVC on Charleston Hwy (SC Hwy 64)  just east of Neyles Crossroads Thursday afternoon 31-March at 17:45. The 2016 Kia Rio was traveling east on Charleston Hwy when it failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle entered the ditch at a high rate of speed, struck a power pole and fence before overturning. The unrestrained driver was ejected from the car. The vehicle came to rest on top of the driver, trapping him under the car. Firefighter-Paramedics stabilized the overturned vehicle and used Holmatro High Pressure Air Bags and Pentheon Spreaders to lift the car off of the man. He was extricated with full spinal precautions, then treated at the scene. He was transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 6 to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. 

Engine 19, Rescue 1, Medic 1, Medic 6, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as Incident Commander.
