22/March/2022 - Woods & Workshop Fire - "A" Shift

Incident # 22-02173 - At 14:17, Tuesday 22-March, an alert Deputy was on patrol in the Canadys Community when he spotted a large black smoke column behind a residence and went to investigate. He located a large woods fire and a workshop on fire. Fire-Rescue units were sent to the scene and deployed multiple handlines from several apparatus. The fire is believed to have spread from an unattended debris pile on the adjacent property and involved approximately 15 acres. The fire had reached a container that was converted to a workshop, which had an addition and a covered shed. All three were well involved. A Forestry tractor was also requested and responded. Firefighters were on scene for a couple of hours extinguishing the fire and protecting a nearby home. The workshop and all of the tools inside were destroyed. The Forestry Commission cut a fire line around the woods fire to contain to the blaze. 

Engine 19, Engine 36, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 36, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 102 and Car 107 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
