22/March/2022 - Residential Camper Fire - "C" Shift

Incident # 22-02163 - A camper, used as a residence, was destroyed in a morning fire Tuesday 22-March at 07:47. The fire occurred in the 200 block of Fennell Ln near Round O. The occupant advised he was awakened by a loud pop and saw fire in the back of the camper near the bathroom. He, an adult female and their dog were able to escape the burning camper uninjured. Upon exiting, he found the grounds around the camper and a pickup truck parked near the back of the camper were also on fire. Engine 9 arrived a few minutes later to find the camper and the pick up truck both well involved. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two handlines to combat the fire. Crews had the fire under control in about 25 minutes. The cause of the fire appears to have been electrical in nature. The interior of the camper suffered heavy damage and the couple lost most of their belongings. The pickup truck also received substantial damage. Units were on the scene for 2-1/2 hours.

Engine 9, Engine 19, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 27, Medic 9, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
