02/March/2022 - Woods & Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Incident # 22-01628 - At 16:04, while northside units were already working a two alarm fire on Bent Gate Ln, 9-1-1 dispatched a grass and woods fire in the 2900 block of Hughes Dr. While Engine 9 was enroute, the fire was upgraded to a structure fire reporting two outside storage buildings were on fire. Engine 9, arrived to find a 3 acre wood/grass fire with the two storage buildings and a camper involved. Several homes were threatened, one that received radiant heat damage to a brand new doublewide mobile that was being set up. The heat melted the vinyl siding on the mobile home. The camper was destroyed. Engine 9 also requested a second alarm and deployed multiple handlines. Firefighters were able to protect the remaining structures. The Forestry Commission tractor cut fire lines around the fire. Two children reportedly started the fire while playing with a lighter. No injuries were reported. 

Engine 1, Engine 5, Engine 9, Engine 36, Tender 2, Tender 4, Tender 5, Tender 6, Tender 9, Tender 17, Medic 9, Car 118 and Car 119 responded. Battalion Chief Joseph Campbell served as Incident Commander.
