04/December/2021 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Incident # 21-08687 - A Green Pond family was displaced following an early morning fire that destroyed their home Saturday morning 04-December. At 04:51, 9-1-1 received a report that the house was on fire and all of the occupants had exited the building. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later to the single lane dirt road to find the single story wood frame structure fully involved. A portion of the rear corner of the home had already collapsed. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one 2-1/2 handline and one 1-3/4 handline to combat the fire. They had the fire under control within 25 minutes. Firefighters continued to perform overhaul on the building for 2-1/2 hours. One of the occupants was awakened by smoke in the house and found flames coming from a bathroom in the middle of the home. The origin of the fire appears to have been a space heater in the bathroom. No injuries were reported, but the family lost most of their belongings as well as damage to a vehicle in the front yard. One back bedroom was saved, but suffered substantial heat and smoke damage. The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Engine 2, Engine 6, Tender 1, Tender 2, Tender 6, Tender 27, Battalion 1, Medic 1, Medic 6, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
