10/April/2021 - High Speed MVC with Air Evac - "C" Shift

Incident # 21-02492 - An 18 year old Walterboro youth was severely injured in a single car crash in the 1700 block of Robertson Blvd Saturday evening 10-April. At 22:05, 9-1-1 received reports of the accident advising the vehicle had overturned. Fire-Rescue units arrived several minutes later to find the 2005 Acura upright on an embankment with the driver laying next to the vehicle. The car had been traveling east at a high rate of speed when it lost control in a curve and flipped over about seven times before coming to rest on its wheels. The vehicle suffered heavy damage. The driver was wearing a seatbelt but received multiple traumatic injuries. He was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, then transported to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. He was transferred to the Flight Crew, then flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. 

Engine 19, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
