03/June/2020 – Fatal Motorcycle MVC – “A” Shift

Incident # 20-03628 – A Walterboro man died from injuries received in a motorcycle accident in the 200 block of Bomar Lane Wednesday evening 03-June at 19:58. The man was operating a 2006 Hayabusa motorcycle traveling east bound on Bomar Lane when he failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into the ditch. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived within minutes from Station # 1 located two blocks away. They found the man unconscious in the ditch. He was quickly treated at the scene and a medical helicopter was placed on standby, however the helicopter was canceled when the man went into cardiac arrest. Crews began resuscitative efforts which were continued enroute to Colleton Medical Center. The ED continued the efforts, but the man unfortunately did not survive his injuries. The SC Hwy Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 1, Medic 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Firefighter-EMT Dakota Smith served as Incident Commander.
