24/May/2020 – Water Rescue – “C” Shift

Incident # 20-03404 – Two women and three children were rescued on the Edisto River Saturday afternoon 24-May. At 14:48, 9-1-1 was notified that the group was in trouble on the Edisto River south of Good Hope Landing before Jelicos Landing. Firefighter-Paramedics and DNR Officers responded to Good Hope Landing. The people’s cell phone had poor reception, but 9-1-1 Dispatchers were able to get a general location on them. They had been traveling on the river on inflatable rafts when the current pushed them into several downed trees laying across the river, causing the rafts to deflate. They were able to make it to the bank and no one was injured. Marine 27 located the group, retrieved them and transported the five individuals back to the landing. None required medical assistance.

Engine 9, Dive 1, Marine 27 and Battalion 1 responded. Captain Ethan Shieder served as Incident Commander.
