29/November/2019 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Firefighters saved a Del Ray Acres home Friday afternoon 29-November. At 14:10, 9-1-1 received a report from the homeowner at 201 Del Ray Drive reporting a fire in the wall behind the fire place and the home was filling with smoke. Engine 1 arrived to find smoke coming from the roof and eaves of the single story, brick veneer dwelling and flames venting from the roof at the back of the home. 27-November-2019 – Decorating the Courthouse

Colleton County Fire-Rescue Personnel assisted Clerk of Court Pat Grant with decorating the Courthouse for the upcoming Christmas holidays Wednesday morning 27-November. Stations #1 and #26 along with Logistics, Training, the Fire Marshal’s Office and Admin assisted. It took crews a little over an hour to hang all the decorations. Click here for more information.

27/November/2019 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

A doublewide mobile home was destroyed in an early morning fire Wednesday 27-November at 12873 Round O Road. A passerby reported to 9-1-1 at 01:08 that he could see flames off of the roadway. Engine 9 arrived to find the structure fully involved with the roof and most walls already burned away. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two handlines to extinguish the fire. Water supply was conducted with Tenders. Crews had the bulk of the flames knocked down within 15 minutes, but were on the scene for three hours performing overhaul. 26/November/2019 – Fatal MVC with Entrapment – “C” Shift

A North Carolina man was killed in a late evening, high speed, single vehicle MVC on I-95 near the 67 mile marker southbound Tuesday evening 26-November at 22:02. Witnesses reported the southbound 1999 Ford Explorer, left the roadway on the median side of the highway twice, over corrected and crossed back to the outside shoulder. The vehicle began to flip over and rolled approximately six times before coming to rest upside down in a water filled ditch near the wood line. The male driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was trapped in the wreckage. The small SUV suffered heavy damage. Click here for more information.

23/November/2019 – Shooting Incident – “C” Shift

A 31 year old male died from an apparent gunshot wound to the back at a residence located in the 15200 block of Round O Road Saturday afternoon 23-November. At 12:12, Fire-Rescue and Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the location after 9-1-1 received a report that a man had been shot. Firefighter-Paramedics found the man, who was not breathing, lying inside the single wide mobile home. Resuscitative measures were begun and the patient was quickly moved to a waiting stretcher. 17/November/2019 – High Speed MVC – “C” Shift

Two women were injured in a two car head-on collision in the 14500 block of Hendersonville Hwy (US Hwy 17-A) just south of Jonesville Ave. Sunday afternoon 17-November at 16:02. The adult female driver of a Lexus received multiple trauma injuries including a head injury. She was unconscious for a period of time. She was quickly treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics. A medical helicopter was requested, but was not available due to another response. The patient was transported emergent directly to the Trauma Center at MUSC by Fire-Rescue Medic 13. 17/November/2019 – MVC with Air Evac – “C” Shift

Three Florida residents were injured in a single vehicle MVC on I-95 near the 63 mile marker southbound Sunday afternoon 17-November. At 12:54, 9-1-1 received reports of a small passenger car that was struck by debris in the roadway and crashed into a tree in the median. The 18 year old female driver was struck in the head by a football sized piece of concrete that was propelled through the windshield. The teenager received severe head trauma and was knocked unconscious. Click here for more information.

11/November/2019 – Fatal MVC with Entrapment – “C” Shift

A single vehicle MVC claimed the life of an adult male Monday morning 11-November at 11:35 in the 2300 block of Ashton Road. A southbound Dodge Durango failed to negotiate a curve, entered the ditch and struck a driveway culvert. The small SUV overturned and caught fire. The driver of the vehicle was partially ejected. Firefighters from Station # 15 arrived minutes after the dispatch and found the overturned SUV fully involved. They deployed one 1-3/4 handline from Engine 15 to extinguish the fire. 05/November/2019 – Gunshot Wound – “C” Shift

At 19:40, Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a shooting incident in the 400 block of Fleming Road Tuesday evening 05-November. An adult male received a gunshot wound to the left leg in what was reported by the victim as an accidental shooting. The patient was found inside a residence, which is not the location of the incident. Firefighter-Paramedics treated his non-life threatening wounds, then transported him in Fire-Rescue Medic 19 to the Trauma Center at Trident Hospital. Click here for more information.

01/November/2019 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

An adult female was able to safely exit her burning home when she was awaken by smoke in the house at 06:41 Friday morning 01-November. The residence is located at 737 Van Dyke Road north of Cottageville. She ran to a neighbor’s home to alert 9-1-1. Firefighters from Station # 9 about 1 mile away arrived minutes later to find flames coming from two windows. Crews deployed two handlines and contained the fire to the master bedroom. The bedroom suffered substantial damage, but the remainder of the home and most belongings were saved. Click here for more information.
