Incident # 18-03170 – An adult male was injured after his ATV crashed in the woods off of Miracle Drive Friday evening 04-May at 22:14. The caller to 9-1-1 reported the ATV landed on top of the man. The patient was initially reported to be unconscious but was conscious when crews reached him. During treatment of his injuries, the patient became unconscious again and crews requested a medical helicopter to meet with them off of Sniders Highway. A 4x4 Fire-Rescue pickup was also requested and responded to the scene. The patient was immobilized, then placed in the back of the pickup truck and driven out to the Miracle Drive to meet the ambulance. He was then transported to a field at the intersection of Sniders Hwy and Lowcountry Hwy. The C.A.R.E. Flight helicopter flew to the field and the patient was transferred to the Flight Crew without difficulty. He was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.
