04/May/2018 – High Speed MVC – “B” Shift 

Incident # 18-03159 – Three people were injured in a two car MVC at the intersection of Augusta Hwy (SC Hwy 61) and Jefferies Hwy (US Hwy 15) Friday afternoon 04-May. At 17:28, the two cars collided in the intersection causing a Toyota Prius to overturn. Both occupants of the Prius were trapped in the wreckage and the adult female patient was unconscious. The driver of the other vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries. Engine 5, stationed one block away, arrived about two minutes later. Crews were able to quickly extricate the 13 yr old child from the Prius and then his mother using hand tools. Engine 5 requested a second ambulance. All patients were treated at the scene. The two patients from the Prius were transported by Fire-Rescue Medic 19 to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. The male driver of the other vehicle was transported by Medic 26 to Colleton Medical Center. A private ambulance crew who drove up on the accident assisted with patient care. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 5, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 118 responded. Firefighter-EMT Peter Bohrer served as Incident Commander.
