26/April/2016 – MVC with Entrapment – “B” Shift

Incident # 16-02557 – A single vehicle MVC sent two adult females to the hospital Tuesday afternoon 26-April. At approximately 18:27, a southbound Ford pickup left the roadway on Rehoboth Road (SC Hwy 651) at Van Dyke Road. The truck flipped over several times before coming to rest on the driver’s side. Both occupants were trapped in the wreckage. It is believed the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash. Crews from Station # 9, located a mile from the scene, arrived within minutes. A second ambulance was requested , while Firefighter-Paramedics began extricating the patients. Holmatro Rescue Tools were deployed, but firefighters removed the windshield using hand tools to extricate the two patients. Both were transported to Colleton Medical Center. Traffic in the 1500 block of Rehoboth Road was blocked for nearly an hour. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 9, Medic 9, Medic 19, Rescue 1, Car 105 responded. Lt. Jimmy Jacques served as Incident Commander.
