11/April/2014 – High Speed MVC with Air Evac – “A” Shift

Incident # 14-02290 – A 35 year old male suffered multiple traumatic injuries in a high speed motorcycle crash Friday afternoon 11-April. The incident was reported at 15:56 when a motorist found the man lying in a ditch in the 4100 block of Featherbed Road north of the Neyles Community. The northbound motorcycle had been traveling at a high rate of speed, when it failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway. The motorcycle flipped over several times before knocking down a fence and striking some trees. It received heavy damage. The driver was ejected and was found approximately 30 feet from the motorcycle. He had been wearing a helmet, but suffered multiple injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics stabilized the man at the scene, treating and splinting his injuries prior to transport. Care included dual IVs, immobilization and pain medications . A medical helicopter was requested as the patient was loaded into Medic 19, then transported to the baseball field at the Neyles Community Center. Meducare responded and flew the patient to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
