23/February/2013 – Fatal MVC – “B” Shift

A 79 year old Bennetts Point residence died in a single car accident in the 500 block of Baldwin Lane Saturday morning 23-Febraury. 9-1-1 was notified of the accident at 08:58, but authorities speculate it occurred earlier in the morning. Investigators are working to determine exactly what happened, but it appears the northbound vehicle left the dirt roadway during heavy rains... click here for more information. 

 

23/February/2013 – MVC with entrapment – “A” Shift

A high speed single car MVC has left a 23 year old Ohio man in critical condition. The accident was reported at 06:17 on I-95 near mile marker 62 southbound, Saturday morning 23-February. The southbound 1999 Mercedes left the roadway in heavy rains. The car spun around backwards and struck three trees on the driver’s side causing approximately 2-1/2 feet of intrusion into the passenger compartment. Click here for more info.

 

21/February/2013 – Fatal Shooting Incident – “C” Shift

A 52 year old man lost his life in a shooting incident that occurred at 1008 Proctor Street, the Chase Lounge. The shooting was reported at 20:40, Thursday 21-February. He is the third person shot at the establishment in less than a month. An altercation occurred inside the lounge, which resulted in the victim being shot multiple times with a large caliber gun. 16/February/2013 – MVC with Air Evacuation – “A” Shift

Two people were injured in a single vehicle accident on I-95 NB at the 50 mile marker Saturday morning 16-February at 08:27. Initial reports indicated the vehicle was overturned, smoking and had one person trapped inside. It appeared the northbound Ford F-250 was pulling a small box trailer when it lost control and entered the median. The truck overturned.  Click here for additional information.

 

15/February/2013 – MVC with Air Evacuation – “C” Shift

 A two vehicle accident on Interstate 95 resulted in five patients being transported to Colleton Medical Center and one patient later being flown from the ED to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. An earlier accident in Dorchester County blocked the northbound lanes of I-95. Law Enforcement and SCDOT rerouted traffic at Exit 68/Augusta Highway (SC Hwy 61)...click here for additional information.

 

14/February/2013 – Head-on MVC – “A” Shift

A 43 year old truck driver and 17 yr old girl both escaped serious injuries in a head-on collision on Sniders Highway (SC Hwy 63) at Duck Hollow Lane Thursday morning 14-February at 07:26. The girl was driving a small Mazda pickup truck and struck a large International delivery truck head-on. She was wearing a seatbelt. Click here for more information.

Anyone who would like to play for the Colleton County softball team for the Emergency Services Softball Tournament on March 09, 2013, we would like to have a practice this Sunday February 17 at 2pm and next Sunday February 24 at 2pm at the Colleton County Recreation Center on Thunderbolt Dr.  If you have any questions or want to play but can't make the practices, call Brian Drew (843-909-3417).  

10/February/2013 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Firefighters contained a blaze to the room of origin at 160 Woodmeadow Drive Sunday morning 10-February at 09:54. A neighbor reported the fire after a man came to his home asking that he call 9-1-1. The 30 year old man had attempted to fight the fire himself but was driven from the house by the smoke. Engine 19 arrived four minutes later to find light smoke coming from the singlewide mobile home. Click here for more info.

 

09/February/2013 – MVC with Ejection – “B” Shift

A 25 year old Round O man was critically injured after being ejected from a high speed motor vehicle collision. The accident was reported at 03:30, Saturday morning 09-February after a resident in Lafayette Park was awaken by the nearby crash. The 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse was northbound on Jefferies Highway when it left the roadway at a high rate of speed....click here for additional information.

 

06/February/2013 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

A second structure fire in Station 9’s response area was reported at 17:25, Wednesday afternoon 06-February. Units were activity engaged in firefighting efforts on Bridge Road, when a caller reported a building on fire at 58 Rowe Circle. Engine 19 arrived ten minutes later to find a 12x12 wooden storage building fully involved near a mobile home. Click here for additional information.

 

06/February/2013 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

A large wooden garage was destroyed in what is believed to have started as an electrical fire at 358 Bridge Road north of Cottageville. The incident was reported Wednesday afternoon at 16:29. Engine 9 arrived minutes later to find the one story wood building fully involved. Thick black smoke from the fire could be seen eight miles from the scene. Click here for additional information.

 

03/February/2013 –Large Woods Fire w/Vehicle Fire – “C” Shift

A 28 acre woods fire threatened several homes in the 1200 block of Beavers Pass Road Sunday morning 03-February. At 09:59 Station 7 was dispatched to a car fire near 1196 Beavers Pass Road. When they arrived, firefighters found a rapidly moving woods fire behind several homes and requested additional units to assist in containing the blaze. Click here for additional information.

 

05/February/2013 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 210 Academy Road, the Colleton Courtyard, an assisted living facility Tuesday morning 05-February. 9-1-1 Operators received the first report of the incident at 02:40 advising of a fire inside of a clothes dryer. The appliance was located in a utility room near the east side of the facility at the service entrance. The unit was a small household type dryer. Click here for more information.
