14/December/2013 – Shop with Santa’s Heroes

Seven members of Fire-Rescue participated with over twenty other emergency responders and Colleton County DSS to bring a brighter Christmas to needy children in our community. The annual event is sponsored by Walterboro Public Safety who spearheads the collection of donations to purchase the gifts for the children. This year 20 members from Fire-Rescue, the Sheriff’s Office and Walterboro Public Safety participated. Sixteen children, who were selected by DSS were paired up with a responder. The children were allowed to operate the emergency equipment on the vehicle during their early morning response to Wal-Mart. Santa meet everyone at Wal-Mart and spoke with the children. Each was provided with a 100 gift card to buy what they chose. After the shopping spree, everyone met at Burger King where Mr. Cook provided breakfast for the entire group. It was a rewarding event, with many happy children to help bring in the holiday spirit.
