20/November/2013 – Truck vs Moped with Air Evac – “B” Shift

Incident # 13-06343 – A 47 year old man received a possible head injury after his moped was struck by a truck on Charleston Highway near Brittlebank Road after dark Wednesday evening 20-November. The man was thrown into the windshield of the truck and presented with an altered LOC. He was treated and immobilized at the scene. A medical helicopter was requested and the man was then transported to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with LifeNet 4 who is stationed there. He was transferred without incident, then flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 19, Engine 27, Medic 19 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
