05/March/2013 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 13-01146 – Firefighters were sent to 541 Sullivan’s Ferry Road Tuesday morning for what was reported to be a shed on fire. Engine 9 and Medic 9 arrived to find an approximately 3 acre grass and woods fire with a well involved singlewide mobile home in the back of a field. The mobile home was being used as a storage building for antiques and presented some access problems. A tractor from the Forestry Commission was requested. Engine 9 became stuck in the field due to recent rains, so firefighters extended 3 inch lines to the structure from another apparatus located on a side road and gated them off to deploy two 1-3/4 handlines. Two brush units also responded. Crews worked for an hour to bring the fire under control and were on the scene for three hours. The mobile home and its contents were completely destroyed.

Engine 9, Engine 902, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 27, Brush 2, Brush 9, Medic 9 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Dan Barb served as Incident Commander.
