31/January/2013 – Camper Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 13-00584 – A 22’ camper received moderate exterior damage after an electrical short started a fire outside of the unit. The camper is used by a man as a residence. The incident occurred at 10:46 at the Shuler’s Trailer Park located 11568 Jefferies Highway. The occupant used a garden hose to extinguish most of the fire before firefighters arrived. Crewmembers removed some smoldering objects and exterior siding from the camper to overhaul the fire with a booster line. The interior received little damage, however the electrical system was damaged and the power had to be disconnected. The Charleston Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the man.

Engine 5, Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 5, Tender 17, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 26 and Battalion 1 responded. Firefighter-EMT Cody Hutto served as Incident Commander.
